Ingredients:
- Rice grain (Rice suji/varinooka) - 1 cup
- Water - 3 cups
- Onions (Slices) - 3
- Red chillies -1
- Green chillies - 6 (If you want less spice then reduce the green chillies)
- chana dal - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds (Aavalu) - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds (Jeera, Jeelakarra) - 1/2 tsp
- Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 1 string
- Salt - to taste
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, and let it splutter then add cumin seeds, Red chilli, green chillies, chana dal and urd dal and fry well.
- Add chopped onions and Saute them well.
- Now add 3 cups of water and salt and bring it to boil.
- When the water starts to boiling, then add rice sooji and keep stirring for 2-3 min.
- Now close the lid and cook in low flame for 7-8 min or until it turns soft.
- This hot Rice sooji upma serve with any pickle, yogurt., coconut chutney.
